Welcome to Cloudy - Voice Journal ("Cloudy", "we", "our", or "us"), created by Navy. We believe that your personal thoughts and voice journals should remain entirely yours. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, keeping your privacy at the forefront of our design.
1. The Short Version: Your Data is Yours
We do not require you to create an account. We do not have access to your voice recordings. Core features are processed entirely on your local device. We only collect anonymous diagnostic data and any direct feedback you explicitly choose to send us.
2. How We Handle Your Journals
- Voice Recordings: All audio you record is stored exclusively on your device. We never access, listen to, or upload your raw audio files to our servers.
- On-Device Transcription: Converting your voice into text happens completely locally on your device. This ensures your initial spoken words remain 100% private.
- iCloud Backups: If you choose to enable cloud syncing, your recordings and transcripts are backed up securely using your personal Apple iCloud account. We have no access to your iCloud data.
3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Features
Cloudy uses advanced AI to rewrite and enhance your journal entries. If you choose to use these features, here is how your data is handled:
- Text-to-Text Processing Only: Only the localized text transcript generated on your device is sent to Google AI to be rewritten. Your voice audio is never sent to the AI.
- No AI Training: The text sent to Google AI is strictly used to fulfill your rewriting request. Your data is NOT used to train Google's AI models.
- Your Choice to Opt-Out: You are in full control. You can turn off AI functions at any time in the app settings. When disabled, everything remains strictly on your local device or your secure iCloud account.
4. Data We Do Collect
To keep the app functioning and improving, we collect a very limited amount of information:
- Anonymous Analytics: We track generalized, anonymized data such as crash reports and feature usage metrics. This helps us understand if a new feature is working or if the app is crashing. This data is not linked to you or your device's identity.
- User Feedback: If you choose to use the in-app feedback form, the information, text, and choices you submit are sent directly to us. We use this strictly to review your feedback and improve Cloudy.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third-party services to power specific aspects of the app. Their use of data is limited to the services they provide to us:
- Apple: Handles all app distribution, iCloud storage syncing, subscriptions, payments, and refunds.
- Google AI: Processes the text-to-text AI enhancements (without using your data for training).
- Cloudflare: Provides secure and optimized network routing to ensure safe connections.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
All financial transactions, including the 7-day free trial and premium subscriptions, are processed securely through Apple via the App Store. Cloudy does not collect, process, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address.
7. Data Security
Because your voice recordings and transcripts live entirely on your device and your personal iCloud, their security is largely governed by your device's security settings (e.g., your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID). We strongly recommend securing your device to protect your personal journals.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we add new features or as regulations change. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
